Goring Gap Walk – Along the Thames & through the riverside villages of the Chiltern Hills

Walkers

Our walk is open to all types of walkers – casual, challenge, ramblers, nordic walkers, cani-walkers and long distance walkers, you can even jog it if you feel fit enough. Everyone is welcome. No navigation skills are required as the route will be well signposted and supported.

There are long cut-off times so there is no need to worry about how long it takes you. You are of course free to walk with friends but you can expect to make new friends along the way.

Every few miles the walk passes by a village hall where there will be a chance to rest, rehydrate,  have a snack and use the facilities. We supply snacks, hot and cold drinks, and water to top up your own water bottles . You are free to bring your own supplies or a picnic. You may also choose to make use of a cafe or pub on the route.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Our contact details are in the footer.

About The Goring Gap Walk
Distances, Routes & Navigation

You can choose from two distances, a marathon (26 miles) or a half marathon (13 miles). Both routes are incredibly scenic and pass along woodland trails, riverside paths and through historic riverside villages.

The route uses the Thames and Ridgeway national trails which are mixed terrain, everything from quiet lanes through villages to riverside trails. There are woodland sections through the Chiltern Hills.

The vast majority of the route is flat but there are a couple of notable climbs in the Chilterns but the views are worth it!

No navigation skills are required as the routes will be well signposted. In addition there will be  friendly marshals and a roaming support team to keep you on track.

Start times

MARATHON 8.30am

HALF MARATHON from 10.00am

What support is available?

Along the route the walk passes lovely village halls where we will supply free snacks and hot or cold drinks to keep you going.

Importantly the village halls have toilets. There is space and time to take a break, catch up with other walkers and prepare yourself for the next section.

In addition to our friendly marshals and roaming support team, we also have a mobile medic just in case you need assistance.
